Interior Designer in Cork for a Whole Room
Whole rooms get planned here, not just windows. Colour, fabric, wallpaper, carpet, furniture, and lighting get chosen together, off shelves in our own showroom in Enniskeane. Homes, hotels, restaurants, and offices. Ring 023 884 7123.
The short answer

What You Get From a Design Consultation
You sit down with somebody who does this every week, go through the books for your room, and leave with a scheme you can actually buy. Fabric, paper, flooring, and hardware are all under one roof, so the pieces are chosen against each other rather than one at a time.
One room is a normal job. A whole house is a normal job. Both start the same way.

The service
What the Design Service Covers
A room that fights itself is usually a room that was bought one piece at a time.
This is the opposite of that. We sit down with the room as one thing: the walls, the windows, the floor, the seating and the light. Then we pick the pieces so they agree with each other. You leave with a scheme rather than a shopping list.
The meeting
How a Consultation Runs
It starts as a conversation, usually at the table in the showroom, with the books beside us.
We ask what the room is for, who uses it, what you already own that has to stay, and what you cannot stand. Then we start pulling cloth and paper and putting them next to each other. Seeing two samples together tells you more in ten seconds than a mood board does in an hour.
Preparation
What to Bring With You
Room dimensions and window sizes, even rough ones. Photos on your phone of the room as it is now.
Bring anything that has to live in the finished room: a cushion, a rug corner, a paint chip, a photo of the sofa you are keeping. Bringing a piece of the actual thing beats describing it every time.
New builds
Working From Architect's Plans
If you are building or extending, come in with the plans. We would far rather see them early than late.
Window shapes, ceiling heights and where the sockets and rads land all change what will work. Deciding the track before the plaster goes on saves a job that has to be undone later.
Commercial
Hotels, Restaurants and Offices
Commercial work is a good part of it, and has been for years. Hotels, restaurants, offices and function rooms.
The demands are different. Fabrics have to take heavy use, meet the right fire specification, and be replaceable in three years without redoing the room. That gets bought for from the start.
Trade
Show Houses for Builders and Developers
We have long-running relationships with builders and developers, and our work is in show houses and apartments in new developments around Ireland.
A show house has one job: make the empty ones sell. That means dressing to a budget, to a deadline, and to a look the buyer can imagine living in.
Cost
What It Costs to Start
Ring and ask, because a single room and a full house are not the same conversation.
What we will not do is quote a design fee down the phone without knowing the room. Tell us the size of the job and we will tell you how we would charge it before you commit to anything.
Why here
Why Start Here Rather Than a Studio
You are not paying for a scheme you then have to go and source yourself. What gets specified is mostly what is on the shelves behind you, and the same shop measures it, makes it and hangs it.
Nothing obliges you to buy the lot here either. Plenty of people take the scheme and buy part of it elsewhere, and the room still comes out right. A lot of whole-room work comes from the towns, and curtains and blinds in Kinsale is where most of the design-led jobs start.
Questions Before a Consultation
These come up most often before people book. Anything else is quicker on the phone.

F.A.Q.
Do I have to buy everything through you?
Nothing obliges you to. Plenty of people take the scheme and buy part of it elsewhere, because the room being right matters more than where the pieces came from.
Do you work on one room or only whole houses?
One room is fine, and a sitting room on its own is one of the most common jobs here. Most schemes start with curtains in Cork and the floor, then work outwards.
Will you come out to the house?
Within the fitting radius, that is normal. Ring with the address and you will be told what is involved before anybody travels.
Can you work to a fixed budget?
Say the number early and it helps. It changes which books come out, and it stops you falling for a cloth that was never going to fit the job.
How much does an interior designer typically cost in Ireland?
Fees vary widely by scope, so no single figure is honest. Here the consultation starts against what you actually intend to spend on the room, and you get told early if the two do not meet.
What is the 70/30 rule in interior design?
It is a rough split: about seventy per cent of a room in one dominant style and thirty in a contrast. Useful as a starting point, though your light and your room size matter more.
What makes a home look cheap?
Curtains that stop above the floor, a pole too narrow for the window, and too many competing patterns. All three are cheap to avoid at the planning stage, and blinds in Cork often solve the third.
What are the most popular interior design styles right now?
Warm neutrals with texture doing the work, and a move back to pattern in smaller rooms. The books in the showroom turn over often, so ask for what came in recently.
Next step
Bring the sizes, or let a fitter take them. Either way you get a date at the measure for interior design.
