Curtains and Blinds in Skibbereen

Skibbereen is about thirty-nine minutes from Enniskeane, thirty-six kilometres away. That is the far edge of our fitting radius, so a Skibbereen job is planned properly rather than squeezed in. Ring 023 884 7123.

The drive

Thirty-Nine Minutes Down the N71

Skibbereen is about thirty-nine minutes from Enniskeane, thirty-six kilometres away.

Nobody here is going to dress that up as around the corner. It is a real drive, and knowing it in advance is better for both of us than finding out on the day.

Honesty

Why the Distance Is Worth Saying Out Loud

Plenty of window shops will claim a county and then be slow to actually travel it.

Better to have the number up front. At this distance, a job is worth doing when there is enough in it: a full house, several rooms, a guesthouse or a commercial room. One small blind on its own is a long way to come, and we will say so on the phone.

Preparation

What We Bring on the First Visit

Because the drive is long, a Skibbereen job is planned as two full visits rather than a series of short calls. Your first visit brings the sample books, the hardware samples and the tape, so you choose and measure in one sitting.

The second time anybody comes down the N71 it is to hang the finished job. Nothing in between needs you to be at home.

Range

Curtains and Blinds for Skibbereen

Everything the shop does travels. Curtains come from the workroom, and every kind of the blinds in Cork is measured and fitted down here too.

Houses up around North Street and the older property near the Ilen River often have deep reveals and odd shapes, which suits made-to-measure work far better than anything off a shelf.

The area

Skibbereen and the Harbour Villages

The town and the country around it are all normal runs: Baltimore, Union Hall, Castletownshend, Lough Hyne, Leap, and Ballydehob.

A lot of that is holiday property and second homes, where the whole job has to be done in one planned run. Liss Ard and the roads out to the harbour are all within the same trip for us.

Why here

Why a Long Run Suits a Whole House

More gets done per visit than for a closer customer, because the trip is planned around your whole property rather than one window. Your rooms are measured together, your fabrics are ordered together, and your fitting lands on one date.

There is also a plain answer when it is not worth it. A single blind is a long way to come for, and you will hear that on the phone rather than after you have waited three weeks.

Questions From Skibbereen Customers

These are what people down this end of the county ask before booking. Anything else is quicker on the phone.

Next step

Plan a Skibbereen Visit

Ring 023 884 7123 with what you have in mind and where you are.

You will get an honest answer about whether the travel makes sense, and a date for the measure with everything on board if it does. You can also send sizes and get a quote for curtains or blinds without a visit at all.

What we make

F.A.Q.

Is Skibbereen too far for you?

Not for a decent job. For one small blind it may be, and we will tell you that when you ring.

Do you charge extra to travel this far?

Ask when you ring. It depends on the size of the job.

Can I choose everything in one visit?

The fitter brings the sample books, so choosing and measuring happen the same day. That is the whole point of planning it as two visits.

How long between the measure and the fitting?

Allow a few weeks for cloth to be ordered, cut and sewn. You get a date at the measure rather than a vague promise.

Do you do guesthouses and holiday lets down here?

A lot of the work around the harbour villages is exactly that. Whole properties are quoted as one job, and blinds in Cork and curtains are fitted in the same run.

Can I send sizes instead of having a fitter out?

Send them and a quote comes back without anybody travelling. Take the width and the drop, and say whether the pole goes inside the reveal or above it.

What if my window is an odd shape?

Old property near the Ilen River is full of them, and odd shapes are the reason made-to-measure exists. We make curtains in Cork for bays, arches and deep reveals.
